PILPG Update: PILPG Opens Kenya Field Office with Simia Ahmadi as Chief of Party

PILPG recently opened a field office in Nairobi, Kenya.  PILPG will be working closely with key stakeholders on transitional justice and reconciliation issues in Kenya following the post-election violence of 2007-2008.  PILPG is working with several law firm partners to provide this assistance.  PILPG’s Kenya office is made possible with funding from USAID Kenya.

Ms. Simia Ahmadi has joined PILPG’s Kenya project as Chief of Party.  Ms. Ahmadi comes to PILPG from the International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH) where she served as Representative to the United Nations in Geneva.  During her tenure at FIDH, Ms. Ahmadi took a leading role regarding reform of the UN Council of Human Rights.  Ms. Ahmadi also served as an advisor to the East and Horn of African Human Rights Defenders Network in Kampala concerning a Pan-African project to protect human rights defenders.  Ms. Ahmadi has led trainings and evaluations for the Raoul Wallenberg Institute for Human Rights and Humanitarian Law, the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency, and OECD.  Ms. Ahmadi has a L.L.M. degree from the University of Lund in Sweden, a Master’s degree in International Policy Studies from the Monterey Institute of International Studies, and a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Kentucky.
